Who is Ben Mazur?

Hello! It’s-a me, Ben. This is how I normally dress and definitely isn’t a Halloween costume.

I’ve been a Vision Therapist at VCDC since 2013. Here’s a little bit about me, using my preferred format for communication; internet memes.

I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri,

but I’ve lived in Washington, DC since college. I went to American University and got my B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Applied Physics.

I’m Jewish.

I’ve got an older brother and a younger brother. 2 human nieces, and 1 dog-niece.

Aside from being a vision therapist, I also work on marketing, events, and analytics for VCDC.

When I’m not at work, I like to cook. My favorite things to cook are pie (any kind of pie), lasagna, roast chicken, or okonomiyaki. I don’t use recipes (unless I’m baking) and I don’t own any cookbooks.

I like to play video games, my favorite games include Portal 2, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the

Wild, or Super Mario World. I try to keep up with new games too.

And I doodle (mostly animals). I’m not very good at drawing, but I like to doodle a little bit whenever I get the chance. It helps me to relax

I also follow a lot of funny/ cute animals on Twitter and TikTok.

During the pandemic I’ve been re-watching shows like The Office,

The Good Place,

and Avatar: The Last Airbender

Before working for VCDC I worked as a caseworker, an ABA Therapist, and a subcontractor for the National Institute of Mental Health.

The thing I like most about working for VCDC is that every day is different. Not just because I see different people on different days, but because my patients are always growing and changing. I’ve got a front-row seat to watching someone go from really struggling with something, gaining experience and confidence, and then mastering a skill they once thought was impossible. And as they say in my hometown, don’t forget to be awesome.
